It’s one of southern Africa’s best-kept secrets. Every October, millions of fruit bats settle into the bat forest inside Zambia’s Kasanka National Park as they migrate south for the Southern Hemisphere summer. The nightly bat emergences are one of the most spectacular natural phenomena you’ll ever see! It is the largest mammal migration in the world, after all.
But unfortunately, these bats are some of the most misunderstood and threatened creatures in the world. We’re joining Merlin Tuttle’s Bat Conservation to research the state of Kasanka’s bats and what more we can do to protect them. We hope this series will educate and motivate you to get involved and help conserve these precious and invaluable creatures.
All bat handlers in this video are professionally trained.
