Forecasters have called it the most significant tropical weather threat to Cape Cod in 32 years. As Hurricane Lee puts New England and the Canadian Maritimes in its crosshairs, its impacts all come down to the timing of an insignificant wobble.

The slower track brings the eye of the storm within a few miles of Cape Cod, which could deliver a punch the Cape hasn’t seen since Hurricane Bob steamrolled Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts in 1991. But a faster-moving Lee would stay well offshore, delivering a glancing blow that spares the Cape. Which track wins out? We’re on the Cape throughout the storm to document it all.
